St. Barnabas is a church community where the people lead and actively participate. It is a place where everyone discusses scripture within the framework of a traditional Episcopal worship service. At St. Barnabas people freely question, search and explore the significance of Christ in their lives. Like the early church, people gather to sing, pray, and eat together in fellowship and community in an effort to better know God. This Matters Because: We need a safe and loving place to share our questions, doubts, hopes, fears, and experiences in a Christian community. This brings our faith alive and makes it relevant. We want to hear the voices, stories, and experiences of others. This allows us to maintain a sustainable church community where we work together maximizing self-sufficiency; using our resources wisely; focusing on our long-term well-being; reinforcing our sense of community. we share our vision We Share Our Vision Through: Reaching out to those unfamiliar with or alienated from church. Community lay-led morning prayer. Discussion of each Sunday’s scriptural readings. Spiritual reflection where everyone participates. Every Sunday after-service fellowship, once-a-month community brunch, once-a-month Eucharist. A program of invited speakers who lead and encourage discussion and dialogue on Christianity. We Live Our Faith By: Cooking and serving at the homeless shelter. Donating clothing, toys, and food during the holidays. Participating in the democratic process. Fostering a reverence for the earth as God’s creation and actively working to preserve it. Developing pathways for people to share their resources. Supporting an innovative, bi-lingual pre-school program. Sharing delicious free meals with our community. We Are Episcopal Because: We affirm Episcopal heritage of reason–scripture–tradition. We appreciate the beauty of the Book of Common Prayer and its liturgies. We are an active part of the Diocesan community and its inclusive policies.

Proud and grateful to say that we are Episcopalian.
An excellent personal message from Bishop Kevin, reflecting on recent comments about the City of Baltimore. And the implications of Jesus' life and message.
An important and thoughtful article.
We will, with God's help!
OK, for the people at St. Barnabas who did some theological wrestling about the Trinity yesterday...try this!

A wonderful explanation of the mysteries and drama of Holy Week.
We'd love to have you join us. There is still room.
May the Holy One be with those who are mourning and with those who have been injured. May those who have died find blessed rest. And may God turn the hearts of each of us from hate.
One of the most profoundly challenging statements I have ever read! Be like God!

Tomorrow is the last Sunday of Pentecost, the Feast of Christ the King. In these difficult times, how do you deal with the idea of KING?
Just one week ago we said our final farewell to our dear friend John "Tobi" Tobin. His memorial service was by turns-- sad, emotional, humorous--a goodbye and a celebration. John was a kind, faith-filled and generous man, energetic and humble, intelligent, caring and often just plain silly. Like many small congregations, our faith community would frequently struggle with the question of how to move forward, how to hear God's call and know what it was we were being called to. Tobi was always the voice of encouragement, urging those of us with weaker hearts on to new challenges, seeing light and opportunity when others were ready to quit. This past week I've found myself singing a song that was recorded by Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie, called Precious Friend. https://youtu.be/9NmWkJXGfYs I know Tobi loved music and though Pete Seeger never came up in any of our conversations, I think the two of them would have gotten on famously. I like to think that they're sharing a laugh and a song right now. So here's to you precious friend. Thank you for all you gave to everyone around you and the light you still shine into the recesses of our hearts.
